Heron

Terms of use

What Heron is

Heron is a free, independent personal project built by one student. It is not a company product, and it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the University of Washington or Instructure (the maker of Canvas). Canvas is a trademark of Instructure, Inc.

By using Heron you agree to these terms. If you don’t, please don’t use it.

Your deadlines are your responsibility

Heron reads your calendar feed and suggests when to work. It can be wrong: a feed can be incomplete or late, an instructor can change a date, and the plan is an estimate. Always check Canvas and your instructors for official due dates. Heron is a planning aid, not a source of truth, and you remain responsible for your own coursework and grades.

No guarantees

Heron is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that it will be accurate, uninterrupted, or error-free. Notifications may be late or not arrive. Features can change or stop at any time, and the service may be shut down.

Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the person who runs Heron is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, including missed deadlines, lost grades, or lost data, arising from your use of it. Because Heron is free, total liability for any claim is limited to zero dollars.

Using it fairly

  • You must be at least 13 years old.
  • Only add calendar links that belong to you.
  • Don’t try to break, overload, or get into other people’s data.
  • Access can be removed for anyone who misuses it.

Your data

You own what you put in. What is stored, where, and how to delete it is on the privacy page. You can delete everything at any time from Settings.
